Pedicures and Karate

Today I indulged in a pedicure.  Before you get too excited you should know that, although I normally love getting pedicures, I only went because my leg injury prevents me from clipping my own toenails and they were becoming talons!  I was looking forward to a nice relaxing hour at the salon, being pampered and enjoying myself.

Too bad I didn't remember that my leg HURTS!  It hurts when it's down, it hurts when I walk, and it especially hurts when I have to have it up straight in front of me without a support under my knee.  My pedicurist (?) was very understanding and changed positions with me several times but all in all it was torture.  I will say though that my feet feel good now and my toenails look pretty :-).  When I got home the only person who noticed my pretty feet was Lily.  She sniffed them thoroughly and licked the lotion off.  Sigh.

Dave drove me to and picked me up from the salon, from there we took Amerah to karate.  She is studying Soo Bahk Do (Mu Duk Kwan) and LOVES it!  Today she was the only child in class and thus got a GREAT lesson with lots of attention and help...

Lesson one:  How to tie your belt correctly (she still struggles with that)...

Lesson two:  keep your balance! (Bwahahahaha)

And then Amerah showed him what she was made of....

She's a blur when it comes to attacking the bag....

And then it's time to relax and meditate...

Saving the best for last... I LOVE this action shot!  I wish it was centered better but do you have any idea how hard it is to photograph a moving target???

Sweet dreams friends...

having a little fun...

I'm a little behind... which may be a relief to some of you who are thinking, "does she HAVE to blog EVERY DAY?!"  So today is a Tuesday and I'd like to flash back to Saturday... I know it's asking a lot... time travel without a DeLorean... but bear with me :-)

Saturday morning I was super excited to escape the confines of my house and go to a crafting party at my friend Lindy's home.  Yes you read that right... morning.  Only Lindy would have a party on a Saturday morning.

Tired?  Yes.  Groggy?  Yes.  Happy to be getting out of the house?  YES!  So I drove (since I did so well driving the day before when I took Lily to the groomer) and got there alright.  I hung out there, in the comfiest seat in the house, and crafted my little heart out.  Too bad I didn't think to take pics until after everyone else left!  Below are examples of the two cards we made.

Cute huh?!  I also made a back to school banner so I can look like a super mom but you'll have to wait to see that until after Labor Day.

I hung out for a while after the party, making my banner... Lindy has this fantastic machine that cuts out anything you could possibly want (shown here operated by her mother-in-law).

I had so much fun that I ignored the increasing ache in my leg... until it got to the point where I couldn't ignore it.  I also couldn't stand on it very well, and I couldn't drive.  So Dave had to come pick me up at Lindy's.  Sigh.

DAY 2 OF FUN....

I gave myself a day to recuperate from that... I didn't have much choice since my leg was refusing to cooperate with my desire to get out of the recliner.  Yesterday, I gave it a shot again, this time with more success.  I'm attributing the success to the fact that I didn't stay in one place the whole time but I also didn't try to overdo it.  Lily was not happy to see us leave :-(

We went to Midway, in Taylor, to play some mini golf...

er... well... Amerah and Dave played golf, I watched.  It was Amerah's first time playing and she enjoyed herself immensely!

After mini golf, we let her go on the bouncy thingy (yes, that would be it's official name).

Afterward, Amerah pretended to be a monkey and Dave and I pretended that Michigan really DOES have palm trees...

We followed a lovely evening out with dinner at IHOP where Dave ordered FOR THE FIRST TIME from the senior citizen menu... Bwahahahaha

All in all a successful day out!  Looking forward to more family days when my leg has healed and I am more mobile so that I can participate!

Silly Lily

Yesterday I took Lily to the groomers for the first time.  By myself.  Dave was at work.  Amerah was at her cousins.  Shawn was sleeping.  I thought that it was about time to try driving again anyway (I haven't been able to since I fell), so I snapped on the leash... which caused Lily to almost go mad with delight... and tried not to stumble down the front step as she dragged me to the car.

I was keeping my fingers crossed that this would be a good experience for her... she was just happy to be going for a ride in the car!  She couldn't have cared less what our final destination was!

Lily's characteristic enthusiasm carried her happily into the puppy spa...

Where she quickly made friends with her new servant Ron...

If you doubt the "happy" just check out the blur of her tail wagging!

Lily made her Mama proud by being equally friendly with the other dogs waiting to be pampered and by cooperating (for the most part) with her groomer.

When I asked if she behaved herself, Ron was quick to say that she was VERY friendly... but that she was... umm... "playful"  hahaha!  Apparently she was not thrilled by the idea of the blow drier (and who could blame her after the last time her Daddy vacuumed her with the hose attachment!) and she lay down in the tub and refused to budge.

When I arrived to pick her up she was happy to see me but, after greeting me enthusiastically, she passed the time while I payed back behind the gate...

Going to the puppy spa is SUCH hard work! :-)
