Amerah's REAL birthday

Since Amerah's birthday fell on a Tuesday this year, we wanted to make sure she still felt special - even if she had to wait a bit for her party.
We try to eat healthy around here (please note the word "try" haha)... so I swallowed my better judgement and prepared meals that our birthday princess wanted.  Frozen toaster strudels for breakfast... lunchable with a brownie for lunch (I was so proud when she added a plum at the last minute - that's my girl!)... and make your own taco salad for dinner...

Then we let her open her birthday presents from us...

Now Amerah has been BEGGING for a big box that she can make into something... so yes... we bought our child 2 boxes!  Buried in one of the boxes was her main present (another thing she'd been begging for), an ipod shuffle.

Dave did a hilarious rendition of Vanna White... "Which box do you want?  Box A?  or Box B..."

She chose well!
And yep... she was one happy kid!
We picked up a small cake too, because what's a birthday without cake?!
Yup... no one ever accused our girl of being a wallflower!

Amerah ended her birthday early (it was a school night after all)... with a little cuddle on the couch, in her new nightie, with Lily (who didn't want her to be on the phone apparently!

Happy birthday baby!

A Day at the Beach

August 15th... Dave had the day off work so we headed to the beach at Kensington Park...
First we stopped at the little water park adjacent to the beach so that Amerah and Dave could ride this mammoth water slide...
There's my girl...

The bigger you are the faster the slide... as Dave found out...
Then is was on to the splash pad...
Where Amerah got into a water fight with some kid...

Then Daddy ganged up on both of them hahaha...
Since that was all the water park offered, we then headed to the beach.  Kudos to Kensington Metropark for having a wheelchair accessible walkway crossing the beach and ending just a few feet from the water!  If the water had looked a little less... umm... green... I would have gone in myself!

As it was, Dave and Amerah entered cautiously...
I love that photo... Father and daughter

They had a lot of fun swimming (although Dave says the water was icky)...

Amerah hunted for shells but the beach was pretty picked over...

No stinkin' sandcastles for us... Amerah made a sand mermaid...

Terrible photo but proof that I was there...
Last stop:  Concession stand for a snack before heading home...
I tried to get a great... smiling pic of Amerah... sigh... it took a loooooong time... and I saw way more of her tongue and the food in her mouth than I wanted haha...

Very fun day!
